Why be involved?
Every day, hundreds of children are rushed through the doors of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Children’s is the largest pediatric healthcare provider in Georgia with over 550,000 patient visits per year. For this reason, they rely heavily on fundraising to support their mission. Children need Children’s…and Children’s needs you!

Schools
Involvement with UGA Miracle offers students the opportunity to grow as leaders in our community by actively becoming involved in bettering the lives of children in Georgia. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta treats anyone up to the age of 21 regardless of their ability to pay, meaning these students have an immediate connection to those being treated at Children’s. All of our fundraising efforts have one goal in mind: to create the biggest impact without over-burdening the school administrator. Each school works with our Community Outreach Committee of 50 students who plan and implement our community events, including Mini Marathons.
Elementary schools
The best part about elementary school students becoming involved with our efforts is their ability to relate to the hundreds of children just like them being treated at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta daily. UGA Miracle offers many simple activities, such as school field days and class penny-war competitions, aimed to help children learn compassion for others while having fun at the same time!
Middle schools
UGA Miracle offers middle school-aged students the opportunity to learn valuable leadership skills. In addition to holding their own fundraisers, middle school students have the opportunity to work with both elementary and high schools in their areas to combine fundraising efforts for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
High Schools
Not only does involvement with UGA Miracle offer high school students a direct link to a major philanthropy at The University of Georgia, but it also offers a link to similar Collegiate Dance Marathon programs across the nation. Many of our most active members on campus became involved with UGA Miracle during high school and were comforted by the ability to start their college experience already being connected to such a huge aspect of student life. Our most popular community fundraiser, the Mini Marathon, is a chance for students from nearby high schools to unite under the same cause to make a difference in our community.
If you would like your school to be involved with UGA Miracle, please email our Community Outreach Chairs, Melissa Peterson and Jeff Tinsley, at co.ugamiracle@gmail.com for more information.
