from UGA® Miracle Alumni
“I remember when we got THE Larry Munson to narrate the opening video of the 2010 Dance Marathon, it was awesome!”
-Maxwell Mitchell
“I remember doing handstands with people to take some weight off our feet whilst completing the 24 hour standing challenge!”
-Cat Lewis Dyer
“The first year, we were shocked when people even showed up, and even more surprised when they stayed for the entire event!”
-Julie Mickle Wade
I was the Grad Assistant for Greek Life when CMN approached us about DM. Claudia threw it my way and said "check it out". After traveling around the US finding out about DM, I was sold and pitched it to IFC and Panhellenic. We are all in! The next months were a whirlwind of begging, borrowing, and pleading around campus and the local community to pull off DM. It was the beginning of a wonderful legacy many have contributed toward! Humble beginnings but a beginning nonetheless. Keep up the great work. FTK!

All of DM14 was an emotional ride for the seniors. We spent most of it crying or fighting back the tears because we love Miracle and these kids so much. I had two very special moments last year. The first was the total reveal when we learned that our legacy was over half a million dollars FTK. As everyone sat in a bit of shock, the seniors and Exec gathered and hugged and cried in joy as we realized that Class of 2014 had raised over 1 million dollars in 4 years. "Look what we did" we said and I don't know if any of us dreamed this when we were freshman just starting out.  It was definitely a defining moment in my life. The second moment of senior year that stuck out actually happened after the Circle of Hope. I normally stay and help clean up afterwards and talk with the families. Everyone was still kinda shell-shocked about the total and going around in a daze and magnitude of what we had done really hit me again. See, I was a Miracle kid, if not for the therapists at Scottish Rite I wouldn't be walking, running the Doughnut Dare or doing the Standing Challenge. I remember it hitting me again that we had done all this for kids just like I once was. The tears started coming again and talking to alumni and Exec and hearing them say they were proud of 2014 and looked up to what the seniors had done filled my heart with gratitude for this very special organization and for CHOA for everything they have done over the years for myself and many others.
