who we are

UGA® Miracle raises money and awareness for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. We are proud that the first $1M we raise will directly fund Rehab Services and all additional funds will support the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children’s. We are the largest entirely student-run organization at the University of Georgia, and one of the largest in the Southeast.

As an organization, we host many events throughout the school year to engage our campus and community in our cause. These events help us spread the word about who we are and what we stand for as we raise money, recruit new members, and interact with our Miracle Families and hospitals. All of our events and fundraising leads up to Dance Marathon, our capstone event in February. Our participants and Miracle families come together for 24 hours of performances, dancing, and activities as we complete our last big fundraising push. At the end of the 24 hours, we celebrate our families as we reveal just how much money we raised that season. You won’t want to miss it!

what we stand for

With Integrity, Excellence, Compassion, and Fun at the core of everything we do, UGA® Miracle strives:

to champion our families

UGA® Miracle provides compassion, encouragement, and fun to our Miracle Families. Our family of over 3000 members offers support beyond their time in the hospital and through their recovery.

to support our hospital

Our efforts provide support for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta both financially and personally. The money that we raise goes directly to the Comprehensive Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit and the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, allowing our hospitals to give hope and compassion to their patients and our families.

to engage our campus

We do everything in our power to create an inclusive and empowering community at the University of Georgia. Our family strives to create a meaningful experience for every member through genuine relationships and a powerful cause.

our history

Since our inaugural year on campus in 1995, UGA® Miracle has been shaping the Athens and surrounding communities through its tireless and passionate pursuit to serve Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. While our numbers and reach have grown, we remain true to who we are – a family that provides a loving and empowering community to every member. We empower the dreamers and equip the doers to make the most of their college experience by positively impacting the life of a child.

In the Spring of 1995, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals approached the University of Georgia’s Greek Life Office to establish a Dance Marathon program at the school. In it's inaugural year, Dance Marathon at UGA® raised more than $20,000 with less than 300 members.

In 2002, the organization won its first Student Organization Achievement and Recognition Award for Outstanding Campus Event for its outstanding Dance Marathon. In 2006, Dance Marathon at UGA® broke $250,000 and received its first Organization of the Year Award.

By 2008, the organization had outgrown its name and began the search for a more all-encompassing title. Thus, UGA® Miracle was born. Our re-branding sought to expand the organization’s horizons – and other’s perceptions – beyond just Dance Marathon. In 2012 the Alumni Connection was established, extending involvement in our organization beyond graduation.

2017, UGA® Miracle raised $1,352,705.17, and we officially became the single largest scholastic donor to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. We look forward to the continued growth and development of this organization. While we continue to move our own boundaries, we will hold firm to the mission and values of our family. Our commitment to Children's, our Miracle families and each other stands unfaltering.
