Hodge Rivers

In May of 2016 Hodge was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. His family was understandably experiencing a wide range of emotions, but they were very encouraged to hear at their initial appointment with the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorder Center at CHOA that Hodge's prognosis was good. He was diagnosed while the cancer was still in Stage I, which is the best case scenario. His doctors wasted no time and installed his port in June to begin his chemo treatments at Aflac. In September, Hodge had a PET scan which determined that Hodge was in remission. By the end of October, Hodge's blood work was looking good, and his lymph nodes felt normal. In December, his port was accessed for the last time. Then in January of 2017, his port was finally removed. Hodge was a fearless fighter in the face of childhood cancer, and his family remains involved in many organizations to raise awareness and funding for childhood cancer research.
