Hope Nix

We are the Nix Family. Nate, Lenore, Josie, Katelen, Hannah and Hope. We have visited CHOA many times with 3 out of the 4 girls. We have always been impressed and so thankful for the Doctors, Nurses, Therapists and staff at CHOA.

Our story of having to go more consistently started July 17, 2013. Our 4th daughter, Hope Was born. Hope was diagnosed with Aicardi Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder found mainly in females. It involves cortical vision impairment, epilepsy, scoliosis and learning delays. Hope has therapies at school from PT, OT, Vision and speech. She also receives these therapies outside of school as well. Her week is always full of some sort of appointment.

Hope loves her sisters and loves to be a part of whatever is going on. Though she does not use words for speech, she uses body movements and squeals to communicate. She also understands what people are saying to her. The community at CHOA has taken such great care of Hope through her appointments and even multiple hospital stays. Through surgeries, doctors appointments at CHOA, phone calls and equipment needs, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta truly is dedicated to “all better”. We are forever grateful.
