Lainey Barfield

 
 
 

Lainey was born with Spina Bifida. She had surgery when she was four hours old to close the hole in her spine. She spent 27 days in the NICU at Children’s Healthcare at Scottish Rite. She is dependent on a wheelchair for her mobility. Her life is full of doctors appointments with her neurosurgeon, orthopedic surgeon, urologist, neurologist, and many other specialists. She does therapy 3 times a week, including aquatic therapy and hippotherapy (horses). She loves swimming, playing ball, riding horses, and playing on her iPad. She has two big brothers, Whit and Ben, and she really loves UGA Miracle. Lainey turned 16 on June 16th this year!!! She is beginning her Sophomore year at Harrison High School and is so excited to get back to her friends!! She joined the Hoya Squad Cheer Squad last year and loves it!! She has not had surgery in over two years and we are very thankful!! She is part of Hoya Miracle which is one of the high Schools that is part of UGA Miracle. UGA Miracle Dance Marathon is one of her favorite events of the year.
