our high schools

UGA® Miracle's High School Outreach Committee partners with local high schools in the Athens and Atlanta areas in order to implement what UGA Miracle does throughout the community. During the year, the high school students plan their very own events, fundraisers, and High School Dance Marathons while gaining leadership experience, communication skills, and the opportunity to make lasting relationships with local businesses through the use of sponsorships. The High School Dance Marathons are a culmination of each schools’ fundraising efforts for the course of the year. The high school and UGA® students come together to play games, meet and hang out with the Miracle kids and their families, and fundraise for the incredible hospital. This environment provides a unique opportunity for the high schoolers to grow as individuals, create lasting friendships with the committee members, as well as directly see the impact of everything they have been working so hard for during the year. This year we have the privilege of working with ten schools for the common goal of championing Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and the lives of the families that have been treated at this hospital.

Athens Academy

Located in Athens, Georgia, ACAD has been a part of UGA Miracle for several years and has been a huge benefit to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. They had great success this year with their big annual P’Jammin event, while also holding events throughout the year such as having pop culture jars and a car wash. As always, we had a great experience working with CARE club again this year to benefit the hospital in a tangible way.

Clarke County High School

This will be the first year for Clarke County High School’s Miracle program. Executive director Daly Carpenter reached out about starting a program due to her close personal connection having been treated at Children’s. Clarke Central miracle club students worked tirelessly this year to promote their new club and plan events such as their trunk or treat, numerous bake sales, and even a miracle ball. They have one of the youngest executive boards and we can’t wait to watch them continue to grow together and reach all new heights. We could not be prouder of their commitment and passion towards Miracle and Children’s and we were so lucky to bring them on board this year.

2023-2024 Executive Director: Daly Carpenter

Dunwoody High School

This is Dunwoody high school’s miracle program’s second year partnering with UGA Miracle. They have done a great job this year setting up percentage nights through the support of local restaurants. We are excited to watch them continue to build on past success and grow next year!

2023-2024 Executive Director: Lisa McCown

Harrison High School

Harrison High School Miracle club had monumental growth over the past few years and has built a sense of community throughout the school. Their movie nights, powderpuff tournament, and pink cape sales during their pink out football game were huge events for this high school and allowed for the students to spread the word about the cause while bringing all ages together for a common goal.

2023-2024 Executive Director: Sarah Woods

Jefferson High School

This second-year program is rapidly growing, currently leading with the largest group of club participants amongst our high school programs, and has expanded throughout the community. Jefferson’s students that are involved are passionate about the cause and are dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the kids. They have quickly become one of our top fundraising programs both in terms of personal fundraising and through planning events. They organized a football night where they sold t-shirts and had a Miracle family come speak to the stadium, had students donate to shoot basketball shots at halftime, and much more. They have even expanded their club's reach to the lower school divisions, ensuring a strong legacy for their club in future years. Jefferson has made immense strides in a very short time and we can’t wait to watch them continue to grow in future years.

2023-2024 Executive Director: Suzanna Barker and Makaylee Cain

Lake Oconee Academy

LOA Miracle was established in the 2019-2020 school year. They are always on top of event planning, hosting annual events such as cycle classes, ice skating nights, and always make large strides with their staple 5k. These students are so passionate about Miracle’s cause and have worked tirelessly to spread the word about this opportunity to get involved in their club.

2023-2024 Executive Director: Lauren Glass and Sydney Pattison

North Oconee High School

North Oconee High School students have a personal connection to UGA Miracle. NOHS student and current executive director, Mary Webb, was treated at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta which makes this cause and organization incredibly special to these students. NOHS students' passion especially showed through during our annual Cape Day social media competition with NOHS taking the win with the most likes on their Cape Day post. Their creativity has shown through all year, but especially with their Dance Marathon this year by making it Rock and Roll theme with a live band performance!

2023-2024 Executive Director: Mary Webb

Oconee County High School

Located in Watkinsville, Georgia, UGA Miracle has had the opportunity to partner with OCHS for several years. Throughout the year, the club worked hard to sponsor fundraisers throughout the day as well as during sporting events, as well as host an annual Spikeball tournament.

2023-2024 Executive Director: Emma McCormick

Pace Academy

Pace Academy had the largest fundraising total for the 2022-2023 school year, raising $24,009 for the kids. They had great success with their first ever pickleball tournament this year and sold out during their bake sale. We are so proud of all the hard work and effort of these students and cannot wait to see the success of this year!
